Readership and distribution

Unlike other IP publications, which tend to focus on a particular area of law and are read mainly by private practice lawyers and attorneys, IAM’s global business readership can be divided into the following major groups:

  • Corporate vice presidents responsible for IP, IP directors and senior in-house IP counsel
  • Finance directors and CEOs of major IP-owning companies
  • Senior technology licensing officers at universities and other research institutions
  • Fund managers, brokers, analysts, heads of research at investment banks and venture capitalists
  • Law firm partners and trademark and patent attorneys

IAM has a circulation to over 2,500 individuals globally. They were surveyed in September 2011 and over 12% responded – an extremely high level of interest for a readership survey.

The survey found that, for example:

  • 94% rate the content of the magazine as ‘excellent’ or ‘very good’
  • The average number of readers per copy is 3.5; our regular readership among subscribers and colleagues alone is therefore approximately 8,750

In addition, bonus conference distribution and promotional drives mean that certain issues can have a total distribution of over 5,000 individual copies.
